Relational, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). I would describe my interaction style as patient, calm, compassionate and directive when needed. My desire is to assist you to find and activate your full potential. I believe that somewhere in all of us there is a genuine and authentic self. I see my role as encouraging, understanding, valuing and assisting you to do the same for that genuine self. Much of my work is focused on treating sexual abuse, different types of trauma, feelings of self worth, mood disturbance, sexuality and gender issues, emotional dysregulation, self harming behaviors and eating disordered behaviors, all of which can impede finding and valuing your genuine and authentic self.
I have been licensed as a Marriage Family Therapist (MFC #32024) since 1994. I have worked on many different types of cases involving the District Attorney’s Office, Juvenile Justice Probation System, Child Protection Services and Victims of Crime. I have provided clinical services in many different settings, including psychiatric hospitals, a community based substance abuse outpatient center, two non-profit outpatient organizations and a partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient program for individuals struggling with eating disorders. My therapeutic orientation is a mixture of interactive problem solving and depth oriented therapy. This means I believe we are responsible for our choices in the here and now, but those choices can be directed by past influences or issues. I pursue insight to facilitate awareness and then change, if desired.
